McClain County, OK (July 24, 2020) – A Heath, TX man is ejected from his pickup truck and a 12-year-old boy is injured after a crash in a construction zone.
Authorities say 48-year-old Leighton Ashford was driving a 1995 Ford truck southbound on I-35. As he entered the construction zone, traffic started to slow, and Ashford was rear ended by a semi truck driven by 36-year-old Anthony Hill of Burleson, TX.
According to OHP, Ashford was ejected out the back window into the bed of his own truck. He was airlifted to OU Medical Center where he was admitted in critical condition.
The 12-year-old passenger in Ashford’s truck was transported to Purcell Hospital where he was treated and released.
